Alexander M. Turek

Alexander Marcus Turek was born on June 2nd, 1984 in Düsseldorf, Germany. He currently lives in Karlsruhe and studies computer science at the University of Karlsruhe (TH). Furthermore, he works as a developer of database driven web applications for the university's library.

He started writing static HTML pages in 1998 and launched a small portal web site for game patches. As the page grew larger and larger, he moved on to PHP. Because his hoster did not provide SQL databases at that point of time, he developed his own flatfile based database, which of course was not very scalable.

In 2001, he started using MySQL. This way he got in touch with the phpMyAdmin project. After having contributed a series of useful patches, Loïc Chapeaux invited him to join the team.

He then took over the orphaned German language file and focused on supporting newer MySQL versions and the features they had introduced.

Currently, his studies a very time-consuming, so he is rather inactive regarding the develoment.
